Trade Rumors: Marc Savard Waives No-Trade Clause

Updated: June 30, 2010 at 12:42 pm by Alexander Monaghan
Fantasy Advice, Opinions

Marc Savard recently waived his no-trade clause in order for the Boston Bruins to move him to another team.  Despite signing an extension with the club following a successful season, the team may believe Savard simply is not worth the risk.

At this point, everyone who remotely watched hockey last season knows why.

As always Toronto, Columbus and whatever teams lacking legitimate top-line talent are in the mix.  Savard returned to the team after missing the rest of the regular season and posted three points in seven games during the playoffs– a shell of his former and expected production.

Over the past three seasons in Boston, he was over a point-per-game player but failed to reach such numbers this past season with 33 in 41.

With a respectable 4.007 million cap hit some team will find a home for him.  Like fellow concussion victim David Booth, his entire value is in question after returning as a different player.
Injuries, mixed with age and other assorted concerns are scaring current GM Peter Chiarelli enough to trade him and should scare you enough to not invest high on him on draft day.
