Kurtis Foster Proving His Price is Right

Updated: July 1, 2010 at 11:43 pm by Alexander Monaghan
Fantasy Advice

Despite Pierre McGuire believing Kurtis Foster made too much, the 28-year-old will don the Copper and Blue for a 1.8 million annual fee. One thing is entirely certain:

Kurtis Foster can score goals.

He scored on Minnesota and playing with an incredibly talented powerplay unit in Tampa Bay he scored eight goals and finished with 42 points. His first stint with fantasy stardom came to life back in the 2005-2006 season where he potted 10 goals in only 58 games.

Injuries and defensive deficiencies limited his games over his career but he seemed to truly turn a corner over the past three seasons. With the Edmonton Oilers he can provide a stable goal scoring presence from the blue line, something they lacked since Lubomir Visnovsky left and Sheldon Souray went down with injuries.

The Oilers continue to retool after shedding numerous players from their payroll and may not be done making moves. With Ryan Whitney, Tom Gilbert, Sheldon Souray and Ladislav Smid already in the mix, one would have to imagine the Oilers moving at least one defender.

Foster may be available in a later rounds and could be an excellent source of goals on your blue line.
