Kevin Bieksa may have a reason to celebrate as it appears Sami Salo may miss a significant amount of time with a tear to his Achilles tendon.
We previously spoke about Bieksa and his ability to handle simple arithmetic but now the enigmatic defenseman may have a chance to stay. If history is any indicator, Salo will be out a while.
According to Cap Geek, Salo will make 3.5 million which is just a shade under the 3.75 Bieksa earned so the salaries would be a wash. If Bieksa stays in Vancouver he will likely play a more limited role with Keith Ballard and Dan Hamhuis now on board.
Essentially, if Bieksa stays because of the Salo injury he will have to replace Salo in every facet.
