Draft Review: Tyler Seguin Signs with Bruins

Updated: August 4, 2010 at 12:10 am by Alexander Monaghan
Fantasy Advice, Opinions

The Boston Bruins inked their top pick, Tyler Seguin, to a three-year entry-level contract.  Supposedly the 2nd overall pick will make similar money to top pick Taylor Hall who makes a base of 900K and can earn over 3 million in bonuses.

One needs to wonder how the Bruins will fit Blake Wheeler and Seguin under the cap, but the long term injury to winger Marco Sturm will take 3.5 off the books.  In addition, we can pick up the Marc Savard trade rumors once again.

With the Bruins, Seguin may have a similar season to the second best forward in last year’s draft: Matt Duchene.  Boston holds a plethora of young centers with David Krejci and Patrice Bergeron already top pivots, which should help Seguin settle into the NHL.

If he sees powerplay time on the top unit he should be able to post 40-50 points and remain a solid keeper for every deep league. The only question that remains:  Will he make the team?
