Coyotes re-sign Lee Stempniak for two years

Updated: August 31, 2010 at 12:11 am by Alexander Monaghan
Fantasy Advice

The Phoenix Coyotes re-signed one of their better scoring forwards in veteran Lee Stempniak for two years and a 1.9 million cap hit. Thought to be one of the better goal scorers on the market, Stempniak watched from the sidelines before eventually taking a 600K annual pay decrease.

Hard to project what we will see from Stempniak as he finished with 28 goals thanks to a 14-in-18 run. Will we see Dr. Jekyll or Mr. Hyde? GM Don Maloney certainly hopes the right wing can play at that higher level and help the team with their secondary scoring. Stempniak’s two lowly assists in seven playoff games seem to project Jekyll from here as even 30-goal-scorers like Matt Moulson received a pass in shallow, standard Yahoo! leagues.
