For the rest of the season every Monday I’m going to post an article outlining the DailyFaceoff Fantasy team of the previous week. The team will consist of 1 Center, 1 Left Wing, 1 Right Wing, 2 Defenceman and 1 Goalie that excelled in fantasy the week before. I’m going to take into account G, A, +/-, SOG, GWG, SHG and PPP. As for goalies I will look at the usual, wins, GAA, SV% and Shutouts.
C – Henrik Zetterberg – Detroit Red Wings
Zetterberg was great this past week for his fantasy owners. The Red Wings had 3 games from January 28-February 3 and Zetterberg managed to score 4 goals, 3 assists and was a +2. Of those 4 goals one was a shorthanded goal and one was a game-winning goal. He rifled off 11 shots and added 3 power-play points. He was good across the board and you can’t really expect anymore than what Zetty did this past week.
LW – Thomas Vanek – Buffalo Sabres
Vanek has been absolutely on fire this season. The week the Sabres had 4 games in which Vanek dominated. He put up a ridiculous 5 goals, 5 assists and was a +6. He had 2 power-play points and 1 shorthanded goal. If you have Vanek he would make a great sell-high candidate unless you believe he can continue this (which is very possible). Enjoy the ride.
RW – Bobby Ryan – Anaheim Ducks
Ryan got off to a slow start to the season but picked it up this past week. The Ducks had 3 games this week and Ryan got on the board in all of them. He only took 3 shots in those three contests but still managed to score 1 goal. He added 5 assists, a +3 and 2 of those 6 points came on the power-play.
D – Kris Letang – Pittsburgh Penguins
Letang took 12 shots in 4 games this week resulting in 2 goals. To go along with those 2 goals he added 2 assists, a +4 and 3 power-play points. He has 8 points in 9 games this season and is about as good as it gets in terms of fantasy defenceman.
D - James Wisniewski – Columbus Blue Jackets
The Blue Jackets had 4 games this week and Wisniewski scored 1 goal and had 3 assists. He left Saturday’s game with a concussion and did not return. He was also an E this week with 2 power-play points and 6 shots.
G – Carey Price – Montreal Canadiens
Price started 3 of the Habs 4 games this week and won all three posting a 1.67 GAA and .941 SV%. Price has won 6 consecutive starts and has turned himself into a must-start in all formats.
