The Senators signed Chris Kelly to a one-year deal worth $900K.

Kelly, 35, is a bottom-6 forward that can play centre or wing that the Senators are very familiar with. He was drafted by the Senators back in 1999 and spent the first six and a half years of his NHL career in an Ottawa uniform. He the last five and a half years in Boston, but was limited to just 11 games in 2015-16 because of a fractured left femur.

Kelly will undergo season ending surgery to repair his broken femur. Kelly, who isn’t a fantasy relevant forward was a very important depth piece for the Bruins and a great locker room guy. With Kelly out, Max Talbot has been recalled from Providence (AHL).

The Bruins’ head coach Claude Julien said that Kelly’s injury is “not a 3-4 week situation” but he will not play tonight vs. Pittsburgh. Consider him day-to-day but expect him to miss at least one week.

Kelly missed the final three games of the regular season and the entire postseason with a herniated disc. Kelly described it as the "worst pain" he has ever felt. Kelly is expected to be ready for training camp as he enters his third season of a four-year deal.

Kelly played only one shift during the third period of the Bruins’ shootout loss to the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night. Kelly missed 22 games earlier this season after suffering a broken fibula during a Dec. 7 game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. He has just nine goals and nine assists and is a plus-2 in 57 games this season. The Bruins recalled Ryan Spooner from Providence on Wednesday on an emergency basis. He’ll likely be in the lineup Thursday night against the Winnipeg Jets.

Kelly has been placed on long-term injured reserve after sustaining a fractured right fibula in the second period of the Bruins/Penguins game on Saturday.

Kelly is expected to miss four to six weeks. Ryan Spooner and Matt Fraser have been recalled from Providence.

Kelly was injured in the third on Saturday and will not play against the Maple Leafs tonight. Consider him day-to-day, as the Bruins will likely have to make some roster moves with Kelly and Loui Eriksson out of tonight's lineup.

Kelly has been out since March 11th because of a broken left leg. It sounds as if Kelly will be re-inserted into the Bruins lineup tonight vs. Carolina. He has just six points in 23 games this season.

On Friday, when Kelly skated for the first time with the team, coach Claude Julien indicated his status was "day to day."

Kelly has been out since March 11th with a leg injury. He won't play tonight, but could return Monday vs. Hurricanes.

This is the first time Kelly has joined his teammates for a morning skate since breaking his tibia on March 11th. He is not ready to make his return to the lineup, but this is a positive sign.

This is a tough break for the Bruins and Kelly. This very likely ends Kelly's season. Jordan Caron will likely stay up with the Bruins as a result of this injury.

Kelly missed Tuesday’s game because of an injured left knee. Because of swelling around the knee, the Bruins have not been able to determine the severity of the injury.

Kelly, who was with the team in Pittsburgh, will be reevaluated upon the team’s return to Boston.

Coach Julien said "No, nothing yet," when asked if there was an update on Kelly. "He's been looked at. We'll bring him with us to Pittsburgh and see how things pan out. Nothing more than that." The Bruins did not hold a morning skate so more news on Kelly's injury will be available a few hours prior to their game tonight.
