Lauri Korpikoski News

The Blue Jackets have acquired Lauri Korpikoski from the Stars for Dillon Heatherington.

Korpikoski tallied eight goals and 12 assists (20 points) in 60 games with the Stars this season and played under Blue Jackets’ head coach John Tortorella in New York in his first season, so there’s a bit of familiarity there. The Blue Jackets are deeper than the Stars, so it might be harder for him to find regular playing time in his new home.

The Dallas Stars have signed Lauri Korpikoski to a one-year deal worth $1 million.

Korpikoski was just released by the Flames, but signed on with the Stars, who have been brutalized by injuries in the preseason. Korpikoski is coming off of 22 points (10G / 12A) in 71 games with the Oilers last year and should play in the Stars’ bottom-6.

Lauri Korpikoski is expected to return today against the Ottawa Senators after a 13-game absence caused by an upper-body injury.

“I don’t think you’ll see him getting 25 minutes in the game, but we certainly look forward to having him in our lineup,” GM Don Maloney said. Korpikoski has four goals and three assists in 18 games.
