Taylor Pyatt News

The Penguins have claimed Taylor Pyatt from the Rangers.

Pyatt, 32, has played the past two seasons with the New York Rangers, collecting 12 points (6G / 6A) in 70 regular-season games. He had four points (2G / 2A) in 12 playoff games with the Rangers last spring. He has appeared in 825 career NHL games with the New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix and the Rangers, notching 136 goals, 140 assists and 276 points. Pyatt has 24 points (10G / 4A) in 69 career playoff contests.

The Tampa Bay Lightning lost some depth up front in Tuesday’s win over Buffalo, as center Tom Pyatt broke his collarbone and will be out indefinitely.

Pyatt, 26, broke the collarbone in the third period of what was his regular season debut. He’d missed the first two games of the year with an upper-body injury. A defensive forward with good checking skills that took plenty of faceoffs, Pyatt has had some success in Tampa Bay, scoring 12 goals and 19 points in 74 games during the 2011-12 campaign.

Forward Taylor Pyatt, who has missed the past three games because of an upper-body injury, has been skating with teammates and may return to the lineup tonight.

With the Coyotes marred with injuries, getting Pyatt back in the lineup could be a small boost. The big winger has seven goals and 14 points in 57 games.
