Michael Rupp News

Rupp will have a phone hearing for his elbow on Blues' forward TJ Oshie on Friday.

It was Rupp's first game since February 1st but he only made it through half of the contest after he received a match penalty mid-way through the second period. A phone interview means the suspension will likely be less than five games. The biggest fallout of the hit is how serious Oshie's injury is and how much time will he miss?

Mike Rupp encouraged by first real practice with team but still no timetable not only for return, but for him to go through contact drills.

Rupp will challenge for a fourth line spot and could push someone out of the lineup. He's averaged over 120 PIM over the last three seasons so he could warrant a look in deeper leagues.

All three Rangers currently on the team's Injured Reserve list---defenseman Marc Staal and forwards Mike Rupp and Wojtek Wolski---accompanied their teammates on Tuesday's trip to Florida, where the Blueshirts skate against the Panthers on Wednesday.

Rupp is still recovering from a torn meniscus but could start skating with the team again. Expect him to take a few more weeks to fully recuperate from the injury.
