The Hurricanes have reassigned center Riley Nash and forward Tim Wallace to the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL). Both players will rejoin the Checkers as they open their Western Conference Quarterfinals series on Friday at Oklahoma City.

Wallace, 28, scored one goal and earned one assist (2 points) in 26 NHL regular-season games with Carolina this season. He also scored nine goals and earned 13 assists (22 points) in 47 AHL games this season with Charlotte

Carolina has recalled forward Tim Wallace on an emergency basis from the Charlotte Checkers of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Wallace scored one goal and averaged 10:09 of ice time per game in 21 games with Carolina from Feb. 4-March 18, before being assigned to Charlotte. In 47 games with the Checkers this season he has notched nine goals, earned 13 assists (22 points) and accumulated 44 penalty minutes.

Forwards Jussi Jokinen and Tim Wallace have been placed on waivers, Hurricanes management confirmed on Tuesday.

Wallace, who signed a one-year, two-way contract with Carolina on July 19, 2012, has cleared waivers already once this season when the Canes assigned him to Charlotte on Jan. 18 after a week-long training camp.

Assigned to Bridgeport (18): Forwards Micheal Haley, Sean Backman, Casey Cizikas, Justin DiBenedetto, Brett Gallant, Tomas Marcinko, Tyler McNeely, Tony Romano, David Ullstrom and Tim Wallace; Defensemen Calvin de Haan, Matt Donovan, Anton Klementyev, Aaron Ness, Benn Olson and Ty Wishart; and Goaltenders Mikko Koskinen, Anders Nilsson and Kevin Poulin.

No immediate fantasy hockey value in the AHL.
