Tim Brent likely to miss tonight with lower body concern.

Brent missed five games because of a lower-body injury before returning Thursday. He must have re-aggravated that injury because it appears he is going be out of the lineup again tonight.

Brent has a sliver of fantasy hockey relevance because he plays with Eric Staal on the top PP unit. He will continue to be replaced by rookie Riley Nash on the fourth line.

Nash is being recalled on an emergency basis for forward Tim Brent, who was injured during the team’s practice at the RBC Center on Tuesday.

Brent will be replaced by Nash on the fourth line. There are certainly better options than a fourth line center on a bottom team.

Sounds like Brent will be fine from his laceration. The pivot scored eight goals and 20 points last season with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Should he not be healthy enough for opening day, look for a youngster like Drayson Bowman to take his spot.

The Carolina Hurricanes got their fourth-line center early in free agency Friday, signing former Toronto Maple Leaf Tim Brent to a two-year deal worth a total of $1.5 million. Brent will earn $700,000 this coming season and $800,000 in 2012-13.
