The Caps sent goaltender Braden Holtby, defensemen Patrick Wellar and Danny Richmond and forwards Christian Hanson, Ryan Potulny and Matthew Ford to the Bears just in time for the start of that camp Monday.

“I was shocked,” said Hanson, who will get another opportunity to make the Capitals roster Friday night when they face the Blackhawks in Chicago.
Hanson will vie for a roster spot on a very crowded Caps lineup. Over 42 career NHL games, the pivot scored three goals and nine points. He probably starts the season in the AHL.
