Jordan Leopold News

The Wild have acquired Jordan Leopold from the Blue Jackets for Justin Falk and a 5th round draft pick.

Leopold, 34, who is from Minnesota, rarely played in Columbus. Overall he has one goal and two assists in 25 games with the Blue Jackets and Blues this season. As one of the best stories of the trade deadline, Leopold’s young daughter wrote a letter to the Wild to bring her dad home. Who knows if this had any weight, but Leopold is now a member of the Wild.

Blues trade defenseman Jordan Leopold to Columbus Blue Jackets for a 2016 fifth round pick.

Leopold, 34, has appeared in seven games this season, averaging just 13:04 minutes per night. He saw pretty limited action in St. Louis, yet the Blues’ deep defense probably accounts for some of that drop-off. He averaged as many as 23:20 minutes per game during his peak usage with the Buffalo Sabres in 2010-11 and has 659 NHL regular season games on his resume.

Leopold (ankle/illness) will be back in the Blues' lineup on Thursday.

Leopold has missed the last 18 games. It is believed that he was cleared to return from the ankle injury eight games ago, but an illness has kept him sidelined. Leopold is expected to replace Carlo Colaiacovo on the Blues' blueline. He has six points (1G / 5A) in 24 games.

Leopold will be a healthy scratch with Roman Polak returning to the lineup.

Blues head coach Ken Hitchcock said that Ian Cole has earned the right to stay in the lineup, so he has elected to scratch Leopold instead. Leopold has three assists and a plus-2 rating in four games since returning from a hand injury.

Jordan Leopold will be out two months following surgery on his hand.

Leopold suffered the injury over the weekend and missed Saturday's contest. Following an evaluation it was announced he would need surgery to repair a ligament. Ian Cole will fill the void on the St. Louis blueline. Leopold has two assists in 13 games, but will be out until January.

Jordan Leopold to start off playing with Kevin Shattenkirk but will eventually get a look with Pietrangelo #stlblues

This is good news for Leopold's fantasy value. Shattenkirk is 15th in the NHL in terms of defenseman scoring with 20 points while Pietrangelo is 17th with 19. Leopold should be much more valuable in St. Louis than he was in Buffalo.

BUF trades D Jordan Leopold to STL for a second round draft pick and a conditional fifth round draft pick.

Leopold has two goals, six assists and a minus-6 in 24 games this season. Leopold is a solid defenseman who can contribute on the offensive end. He put up 24 points in 79 games last season. Moving to a better team should increase his fantasy value, however he is still a low-end fantasy option.
