Greg Nemisz News

The Flames have traded Greg Nemisz to the Hurricanes for Kevin Westgarth.

Nemisz was the 25th overall pick in the 2008 NHL draft. He skated in 15 NHL games with the Flames recording just one assist and has not dressed in the NHL since the 2011-12 season. In 32 games with the Abbotsford Heat this season, Nemisz has five goals and four assists in 32 games.

Calgary, AB – The Calgary Flames announced today they have recalled forward Roman Horak and defenseman Brett Carson from Abbotsford of the American Hockey League while assigning forward Greg Nemisz to Abbotsford.

Nemisz will likely be the first callup from Abbotsford if the team needs an offense-oriented forward.

According to the Flames official site, 12 more players are headed to Abbotsford: Carter Bancks (LW), Chris Breen (D), T.J. Brodie (D), Leland Irving (G), Stefan Meyer (C), Brendan Mikkelson (D), Greg Nemisz (RW), Joni Ortio (G), Gaelan Patterson (C), Joe Piskula (D) Ben Walter (C), Clay Wilson (D)

No immediate fantasy hockey value while playing in the AHL.

Also helping fuel him is the NHL taste he received last season, which amounted to a six-game audition down the stretch during which he netted one assist.

The former first round pick is currently rated the third-best prospect in the Flames' system according to Hockey's Future. He sounds motivated to bring the Abbotsford Heat to the AHL playoffs and should see more NHL playing time later in the year.
