Ian White News

Ian White will return tonight for the Red WIngs.

White hasn't played since Jan. 22 after getting his knee sliced by his teammates skate. He was expected to be out 2-4 weeks and today would mark exactly 2 weeks since he was injured. This was the best case scenario for White and the Red Wings.

Ian White tells Babcock he's playing Tuesday.

Babcock isn't as certain that White will play on Tuesday, but the fact that White is back on the ice practicing and says that he can play is a great sign. He was expected to miss 2-4 weeks, but it looks like he's going to be back way ahead of schedule.

Wings defenseman Ian White had surgery this morning for laceration in leg. Out 2-3 weeks, Holland said. No callups or moves, Kindl back FRI

Another injury to a Red Wings defenceman. White is probably the second best fantasy D-man option on the Red Wings and sees a lot of power play time. Expect Brendan Smith to eat up most of White's lost PP time.

DETROIT -- Detroit Red Wings defenseman Ian White will miss the upcoming four-game road trip due to a fractured cheek bone.

White has been a staple of the Red Wings defense scoring three goals and seven points in 15 games. Brendan Smith will replace him in the lineup.
