The Oilers have acquired Henrik Samuelsson from the Coyotes for Mitchell Moroz.

Samuelsson, 22, was the 27th overall pick in 2012, but has only appeared in three career NHL games. Samuelsson was a target of the Oilers in 2012 and now he has a shot to crack their roster with some strong play in Bakersfield (AHL). Samuelsson has registered just two goals and one assist in 20 games with Tucson (AHL) this season.

The Coyotes have reassigned Henrik Samuelsson to Portland (AHL).

Samuelsson failed to record a point while registering three shots and a minus-2 rating in two games during his call-up. He returned to Portland where he has 10 goals and 15 assists (25 points) in 50 games this season.

Phoenix #Coyotes sign #OilKings F Henrik Samuelsson to his entry-level contract. $1.138M per, cap hit.

Samuelsson scored 33 goals and added 47 assists (80 points) in 69 games with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the WHL this season. He also has eight goals and seven assists in 12 playoff games.
