Following a full day off Tuesday, Brouwer was not on the ice for practice Wednesday. It was a maintenance day for Brouwer, a team spokesman said.

The Caps have the habit of calling legitimate injuries maintenance days so it wouldn't be surprising if Brouwer misses a game or two. In his first 80 games with the Caps, Brouwer scored 18 goals and 32 points.
