Adam Burish News

Burish underwent a medical procedure Wednesday after injuring his hand blocking a shot the previous night in San Jose's 5-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers.

Neither details of the repair work on a damaged finge nor a timeline for Burish's recovery and return was available. Sharks coach Todd McLellan said after Tuesday's win that Burish likely would not be in the lineup for a while. The Sharks have recalled Freddie Hamilton to round-out the roster.

Adam Burish is ready to make his series debut on Sunday night in Game 6 against the Los Angeles Kings.

The fourth liner hasn’t played since May 7, when he suffered a broken right hand against the Vancouver Canucks while blocking a shot. The Sharks originally declared him out for the entire second round. He’s expected to skate with Andrew Desjardins and Bracken Kearns on the fourth line, but will also resume his role as one of the team’s most important penalty killers, according to Todd McLellan.

Right wing Adam Burish will miss the entire San Jose Sharks' second-round playoff series due to an upper body injury sustained in Game 4 against the Vancouver Canucks.

Burish was slashed in the hand by Vancouver's Alex Edler at 16:35 of the second period and did not play for the remainder of the game.

Stars forward Adam Burish has missed 15 games since breaking his hand Nov. 15 against Florida. He has been working out and is healthy, but Stars coach Glen Gulutzan held him out Monday to get him at 100 percent.

The gritty winger has been sidelined since November 15th. Expect him to bump Eric Nystrom back to the fourth line.

"Bur is doing fine, but he's ten days behind Goose in the healing process," Gulutzan said. "He had surgery on the hand, no pin, but it was displaced. Goose's wasn't displaced, it was just broke. There is a big difference in healing time. He's about ten days behind. Where ever Goose is, add ten days for Bur."

Burish is likely chomping at the bit to get back into the lineup. The Madison, Wisconsin was on pace for career highs with three goals and eight points in 16 games. He will be worth a look in deeper leagues if dropped.

FRISCO -- Dallas Stars forward Adam Burish is expected to miss four to six weeks with a broken hand. Burish was injured in Tuesday night's 6-0 loss to the Florida Panthers at American Airlines Center.

Losing Burish is a big blow to the banged-up Stars. Prior to going down he scored three goals and eight points over 16 games with a very healthy 32 PIM.
