Philip Larsen News

Larsen will be back in the Canucks lineup on Tuesday.

Larsen has been a healthy scratch for the last seven games, but will replace Troy Stecher in the lineup tonight. Larsen is expected to skate on the top pair with Alex Edler and will see some PP time as well. He has just six points (1G / 5A) in 24 games this season.

Larsen will return to the Oilers blueline Thursday.

Tonight will be just Larsen's second game with the Oilers since December 19. The Oilers traded Nick Schultz to the Blue Jackets on Wednesday, the deal freed up a spot on the back-end for Larsen to be recalled. He has averaged 20:37 TOI with a goal and five assists in 17 games. He will likely find himself in on the top-pair with Justin Schultz.

Larsen (undisclosed) resumed skating at Oilers practice today.

Despite his return to practice, Larsen is unsure wether he will travel with the team for their three-game road trip that begins Thursday in Nashville. The 23-year-old defenseman had a goal and four assists in eight games before getting injured.

Larsen (undisclosed) missed practice this morning and is questionable for Tuesday.

It might have been a maintenance day for Larsen after a back-to-back on Saturday and Sunday. However if he and Justin Schultz can't go on Tuesday, the Oilers will have to recall someone from Oklahoma City. Larsen has made a splash since arriving in Edmonton in early November. He has one goal and four assists in eight games, but like a lot of Oilers he is an ugly minus-6.

Defenseman Philip Larsen (concussion) went through a full practice today. He hasn't been cleared to play yet, but that could come after today's practice. If he does get cleared he'd be available for tomorrow's game against Tampa Bay, but the Stars may use him Saturday in Minnesota to get some fresh legs into the lineup.

Prior to getting hurt, Larsen was a rather serviceable defenseman for the Stars. In 19 games he only registered two assists but was lauded for staying with the play. Expect him to spell a wounded d-man when he becomes available.
