Richards (back) is on track to play on Friday.

Richards has been out since October 21st with a back injury, but appears to be in line to play on Friday. Richards, who had two assists in his first six games with the Red Wings, skated on the second line with Pavel Datsyuk and Teemu Pulkkinen, whites a nice fantasy setup for the veteran.

Richards (back) will not play Friday or Saturday.

Richards has been sent back to Detroit to get tests on his back and he will miss the remaining two games of the road trip. The Blackhawks have signed Brad Richards to a one-year contract worth $2 million.

Richards was bought out by the Rangers after he scored 20 goals with 31 assists (51 points) in 82 regular season games. Richards has 12 points (5G / 7A) in 25 postseason games and he heads to a Chicago team with a ton of talent. He will likely centre the second line which will have playing with Patrick Kane. Should that be the case, his fantasy value should rise and another 50-plus point season seems very attainable.

Richards has ruled out a concussion and says that he is just dealing with general body soreness. He will be out tonight when the Rangers face the Islanders. Consider Richards as day-to-day for now.

Brad Richards left the ice early in today’s optional skate and, shortly afterwards, the Rangers recalled ex-Islanders tough guy Micheal Haley from Connecticut (AHL).

Richards was hurt when he was hit from behind by Patrick Kaleta on Sunday. Kaleta was suspended five games for the hit. it would be fair to infer that Richards will be a game-time decision, at best.

Richards still has no goals in the past 14 games and just two on the season, but the Rangers (9-8-2) need him to snap back into form as a playmaker for this grueling stretch of five games in eight days.

The Richards - Nash combo is still bound to produce at some point this season so if you are looking for buy-low candidates down the stretch, Richards should be high on your shortlist.
