Todd Bertuzzi News

The Senators have signed Todd Bertuzzi to a professional tryout.

Bertuzzi, 39, has spent the last five seasons with the Red Wings, totalling 59 goals and 87 assists (146 points) in 300 games. He will report to Binghamton (AHL) for a 25-game tryout, if the Senators like what they see he will be called-up.

Bertuzzi (flu) will return to the Red Wings lineup on Tuesday.

Bertuzzi missed Sunday's game with the flu, but will be back in the lineup tonight in Columbus. Bertuzzi is obviously far from the player he was in 2002-03 when he had 97 points with the Canucks, but he had been a 40-point player in recent years the Red Wings. Clearly with only nine goals and seven assists (16 points) in 54 games this season, he is not going to come close to 40 points.

Bertuzzi (shoulder) is still not ready to return to the lineup on Wednesday.

Bertuzzi skated with his teammates today, but will not play tomorrow vs. Philadelphia. It will be the sixth straight game that Bert will have missed. With Henrik Zetterberg and Pavel Datsyuk also out, the Red Wings have recalled Cory Emmerton from Grand Rapids.

Bertuzzi (upper-body) is out tonight.

Bertuzzi missed Saturday's contest vs. Ottawa and did not travel with the team to Buffalo. Bertuzzi was skating on a line with Pavel Datsyuk, who is also out tonight so the Red Wings will be without two member of their top-6 when they take on the Sabres. Consider him questionable for Wednesday.

Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Bertuzzi.

The Red Wings shuffled their lines around on Friday and the changes saw veteran Todd Bertuzzi skating on the top line with Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. “I’m not 100 percent,” said Wing head coach Mike Babcock of the line shuffling. “All I know is I can’t keep going the way I’m going, because it’s not working.”

Bertuzzi skating with Emmerton and Eaves on 4th line as Tootoo rotates in. Indication that Bertuzzi is in probably.

Bertuzzi played just 7:14 in Game 2 before being scratched again in Game 3. With Justin Abdelkader out for the next two games because of suspension, Bertuzzi will draw back into the lineup.

Bertuzzi likely to return tonight.

Bertuzzi hasn't played since February 7th because of a back injury. The Red Wings are on the outside looking in and Bertuzzi's veteran presence should help them vs. the Kings tonight. He has two goals and one assist in seven games this season. Tootoo will likely be a healthy scratch in favor of Bertuzzi.
