Theo Peckham News

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to terms on a one-year contract with defensemen Theo Peckham.

Peckham, 25, split the 2012-13 season between the Edmonton Oilers and their American Hockey League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons. He was scoreless with six penalty minutes in four games with Edmonton; he recorded one assist and 29 penalty minutes in four games with Oklahoma City. Peckham has four goals, 17 points and 388 penalty minutes in 160 NHL games, all with Edmonton, from 2007-13.

Looks like Peckham will be the spare defenseman tonight.

Peckham looked like a good source of PIM last season with 198. This year he has only played in four of the team's six games, falling behind Andy Sutton and Corey Potter on the depth chart. Could be time to look for a better option.

Defenseman Theo Peckham is scheduled to take the warm-up as a 7th defenseman as a precaution due to one of the forwards, believed to be Lennart Petrell, feeling a bit under the weather

Peckham is an excellent source of PIM but could be scratched tonight. Expect an update prior to gametime.

Defenceman Theo Peckham, meanwhile, spent the summer in Edmonton rather than Owen Sound, Ont., his usual off-season haunt, and worked out under the watchful eye of team fitness consultant Simon Bennett.

Peckham finally stuck on the team following three separate stints with the big club. In his second full season, the Richmond Hill, Ont. native will play a more efficient game with an increased fitness level.
