Dustin Penner News

Penner will make his Capitals debut Wednesday.

Penner skated on a line with Marcus Johansson and Troy Brouwer in his first practice Penner had 13 goals and 19 assists with a plus-22 in Anaheim. If he is not playing with Alex Ovechkin, he takes a fantasy value hit by leaving the LW alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry.

Penner (upper-body) is probable to return to the Ducks lineup tonight.

Penner has missed the last two games with an upper-body injury, but appears set to return tonight in Phoenix. Penner has not had a point since December 15, being held off of the scoresheet for seven consecutive games. He is expected to skate on a line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry tonight.

Penner (upper-body) will not play tonight.

Penner will miss his second straight game with an upper-body injury. The Ducks love to shuffle their lines on a game-to-game basis but on Tuesday Matt Beleskey was skating with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry. Monitor Penner's status prior to Saturday's game in Phoenix.

Dustin Penner (concussion) said he should be ready to go tomorrow night against Boston.

With Teemu Selanne out with a facial injury, a spot in the lineup is wide-open for Penner to slide back in. Kyle Palmieri will likely move up into the second line RW spot left vacant by Selanne. Penner will probably return on the Ducks third line.

Dustin Penner has been symptom free for several days and will join the team in Columbus.

Penner ranks third on the Ducks with a plus-8 rating in six games. Penner has points in two of his last three games (2g/1a), and scored his first goal of the season as part of a multi-point night (1g/1a) on October 10 against the New York Rangers.

Ducks winger Dustin Penner is free of concussion symptoms and may join up with team in Columbus.

Penner is missing his third straight game tonight after suffering a concussion on Sunday. He could be in the lineup on Sunday vs. the Blue Jackets. The 31-year-old has two goals and two assists in six games.

Bruce Boudreau said Ducks LW Dustin Penner (lower body) is day to day. Appears to be question mark for Sunday vs. Ottawa.

Penner left the game Thursday after skating just 8:26, but he managed to score and assist on a goal after being moved back to the Ducks top line. Consider him questionable Sunday.

With Teemu Selanne being scratched from tonight's game to keep the 43-year-old fresh, Dustin Penner will draw back into the lineup.

There has been no word on how Selanne being benched will shake up the Ducks' lines, but my best guess would be we will see Penner on Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry's line.

Dustin Penner will be a healthy scratch for the Ducks tonight.

Penner was given a great chance to succeed when he was reunited with his former line-mates Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry in the preseason. However, Ducks head coach Bruce Boudreau was less than impressed with how Penner performed. Boudreau is likely trying to send a message to the 31-year-old winger.

After signing a one-year, $2 million deal with the Ducks this past summer, Penner was handed a golden opportunity when camp started. Anaheim head coach Bruce Boudreau gave him the chance to be reunited on the top line with Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, a trio that was key in Anaheim’s 2007 Cup triumph. But Penner needs to show that he belongs there.

"He’ll never have a greater opportunity to play with players of the caliber of Ryan and Corey. It’s all up to him,” Boudreau said. "We want it to work. But in the end, he’s going to have to be the one that produces and shows that he deserves to be on that line." Penner found himself on a line with Matt Beleskey and Rickard Rakell this morning which suggests that his time with Perry and Getzlaf may be over.
