The Flames have sent Ladislav Smid to Stockton (AHL) on a conditioning stint.

Smid has been a healthy scratch in the last five games and has only appeared in four games this season and has only averaged 9:55 TOI per night. Smid has fallen behind Deryk Engelland on the depth chart and will go to Stockton for a maximum of two weeks to get back up to speed.

Smid (neck) is expected to return to the Flames lineup on Friday.

Smid will play in his first game since last January. He has been sidelined with a neck injury, but will make his season debut tonight vs. the Red Wings. Smid is not a fantasy option, having recorded only 72 points in 561 career games.

Smid (neck) has been cleared for light contact.

Said had his 2014-15 season cut short when he underwent neck surgery. He is in training camp with the Flames, but has yet to be cleared for full contact. He was cleared for some light bumping which is a good step in his recovery. The Flames will see how he responds to light contact before giving him full clearance.

The Flames have placed Ladislav Smid (undisclosed) on IR.

Smid, who recently missed 10 games with an upper-body injury, will be out of the lineup again, for an undetermined amount of time. His placement on IR allowed the Flames to activate Karri Ramo.

Smid (upper-body) is doubtful for Wednesday’s game vs. the Red Wings.

Smid participated in his first practice since getting hurt on Monday and he will likely skate on Tuesday and Wednesday as well, but he is unlikely to play on vs. Detroit. Look for him to return later in the week on either Friday or Saturday.

Smid (upper-body) returned to Flames practice on Monday.

Smid has missed the last nine games with an upper-body injury that he suffered on December 12th in Pittsburgh. If he practices on Tuesday and is in the morning skate on Wednesday, there is a good chance he will be back for that night’s game vs. Detroit.

Smid (upper-body) is out indefinitely.

According to head coach Bob Hartley Smid will be out “for a while.” There is no official timetable for his return. With Smid out tonight, Raphael Diaz will slide back onto the third pairing with Deryk Engelland.

The Flames have placed Ladislav Smid (upper-body) on injured reserve.

Smid was injured on Friday on a hit from Penguins’ defenseman Simon Despres. The hit looked pretty vicious, but Despres was not assessed a penalty on the play. Smid left the game and did not return. There is no word on the severity of the injury or who will be recalled from the AHL.

Smid left Friday's game with an upper-body injury and did not return.

Smid left the game after being hit by Rangers forward Derek Dorsett. Smid only play 5:36 before retiring to the dressing room for the remainder of the contest. The Flames recalled Chad Billins from Abbotsford which suggests that Smid will miss some time.

The Edmonton Oilers have traded Ladislav Smid and Olivier Roy to the Calgary Flames for Laurent Brossoit and Roman Horak.

Smid has one goal and one assist with a minus-6 rating in 17 games with the Oilers. This is simply a salary dump for the Oilers who are reportedly in talks with Ilya Bryzgalov.

Oilers announce Smid signed for 4 years-$14 million. (3.5 million per/yr)

Smid is in his seventh season in the NHL, all of which have been spent in Edmonton. He has 10 goals and 52 assists in 443 games. He is a solid stay at home defenseman who is much more valuable to the Oilers than he is to your fantasy team.
