Chris Higgins News

The Canucks placed Chris Higgins on waivers for purpose of buying him out.

Higgins had just three goals and one assist in 33 games with the Canucks last season before he was placed on waivers and sent to Utica (AHL), where he registered nine goals and four assists (13 points) in 22 games. The 33-year-old’s NHL career is likely over.

Higgins (foot) will make his season debut on Wednesday.

Higgins missed the start of the season after suffering a fractured foot in the preseason. Higgins will skate on the Canucks’ second or third line. He is coming off of a season where he had 12 goals and 24 assists (36 points) in 77 games.

Chris Higgins
Higgins is expected to miss three weeks with a fractured foot.

Higgins suffered the injury while blocking a shot in Monday’s preseason game. This injury could open the door for the Canucks to give Brendan Gaunce a look for the first week or two of the season.

Chris Higgins
Higgins left Monday’s preseason game with a foot injury and did not return.

Higgins was spotted wearing a walking boot on his right foot at Tuesday’s morning skate, which is never a good sign. Higgins sustained the injury while blocking a Brenden Dillion slapshot. The Canucks have not released any information about the severity of Higgins’ injury, but wearing a walking boot isn’t a good sign for him being available to start the season.

Chris Higgins
Higgins (lower-body) is expected to play on Saturday.

Higgins has missed the last three games with a lower-body injury, but it looks like he will be back in tomorrow vs. the Maple Leafs. Higgins had a three-game point streak (1G / 2A) going before he was hurt.

Chris Higgins
Higgins (lower-body) will be out "a while."

Higgins missed Saturday’s game with a lower-body injury and it was announced this afternoon that he will be out for an extended period of time. Brandon McMillan and Ronalds Kennins will likely alternate playing time with Higgins out.

Chris Higgins
Higgins is day-to-day with the flu.

Higgins was held out of Thursday’s game and was not on the ice for the Canucks’ practice on Friday because of the flu. If Higgins is not good-to-go on Saturday, expect Linden Vey to remain in the lineup.

Chris Higgins
Higgins (undisclosed) will be back in the Canucks lineup tonight.

Higgins missed Tuesday's game in Boston with an undisclosed injury, but will return tonight in Montreal. Higgins has been on of the Canucks most consistent offensive producers this season. He has totalled 31 points (15G / 16A) in 56 games.

Chris Higgins
Higgins (illness) will be back in the lineup tonight, John Tortorella would not disclose who would come out.

Higgins missed Sunday's games against the Ducks, but will play tonight vs. Pittsburgh. Higgins has 23 points (11G / 12A) in 43 games. We likely won't know who comes out of the lineup until pre-game warmups.

Chris Higgins
Higgins only has mild knee strain. Hope to have him back before end of regular season. #Canucks

Higgins missed last night's game with a lower-body injury. The injury is now being described as a knee strain that will likely keep him out for the remainder of the season. It is safe to drop him.
