The Flyers have signed Ray Emery for the remainder of the season.

The Flyers have six games left in the regular season and Emery will likely be with the team as Steve Mason’s backup goalie, as long as he clears waivers. Emery is not eligible to play in the playoffs, but he is goaltending insurance with Michal Neuvirth still sidelined.

The Lightning have signed Ray Emery to a professional tryout (PTO).

With Andrei Vasilevskiy going down for 2-3 months because of a blood clot, the Lightning have brought Emery in to potentially back Ben Bishop up until Vasilevskiy is ready to return. If Emery isn’t signed to the team, look for Kristers Gudlevskis to become the backup.

Emery starts on Thursday vs. the Hurricanes.

Emery allowed two goals on 26 shots in the Flyers shootout loss in Carolina last Saturday. He will get another crack at the Hurricanes tonight. Emery has not recorded a win since February 15th, posting a 2.84 GAA and .896 SV% in six appearances since then. This could be his final outing of the season—he comes in at 10-10-7 with a 3.10 GAA and .893 SV%.

Emery allowed five goals on 34 shots in the Flyers loss in Edmonton on March 21st. Emery has not picked up a win since February 15th and sits at 10-10-6 with a 3.15 GAA and .892 SV% on the season. Today he will go up against a Hurricanes team who has lost seven of their last nine.

Emery has been dealing with a nagging lower-body injury that he reportedly re-aggregated in practice this afternoon. With Emery out, Anthony Stolarz has been recalled, but expect Rob Zepp to start on Tuesday and Thursday with Steve Mason potentially available for Saturday’s game.

He has been relatively strong and makes for a great start tonight with the Sabres in town. He made 21 saves in a 2-1 win in Buffalo on Sunday.

Emery allowed four goals on 33 shots in the Flyers loss in Columbus on Friday. He has dropped two straight games while stopping 68 of 74 shots (.919 SV%). He makes for a risky option on most nights, but should be a safe start tonight in Buffalo. The Sabres have lost six of eight since the All Star break.

Emery stopped 39 of 41 shots in the Flyers 2-1 overtime loss in Montreal Tuesday. It was a bad matchup, but Emery was equal to the task. Tonight he will face a Blue Jackets team who have lost four of six while averaging 3.00 goals per game over that span. Emery is 5-6-1 with a 3.58 GAA and .879 SV% on the road this season.

Emery stopped five of six shots after replacing the injured Steve Mason in the Flyers 3-1 win in Washington on Sunday. With Mason sidelined for an undetermined amount of time, it is Emery’s turn yet again. Tonight he will make his third start of the year against Montreal—in the previous two, Emery is 0-1-1 with a 4.32 GAA and .864 SV%.

Emery allowed two goals on 35 shots in the Flyers OT win over the Penguins prior to the All Star break. With Steve Mason not quite ready to go, Emery will start tonight vs. the Coyotes. Emery is 8-9-1 with a 3.27 GAA and .890 SV% on the season.

Emery surrendered two goals on 20 shots after relieving Rob Zepp yesterday afternoon. In his last four appearances he has allowed 11 goals on 55 shots (.800 SV%). Tonight he will get the nod vs. the Penguins, so it would probably be wise to avoid spot-starting him.
