Francis Bouillon News

In terms of tonight’s game, the Predators will likely be without defenseman Francis Bouillon and forward Jerred Smithson. Both are nursing “upper body” injuries. Coach Barry Trotz said both are close to being healthy, but he wanted to give them a little more time to make sure they were 100 percent.

Bouillon won't play tonight but remains a possibility for the rest of the week. The native New Yorker has only six assists on the season but has been very sturdy on the defensive side of things.

EDMONTON, Alberta Francis Bouillon returned to Nashville to receive treatment for his ailing groin, according to Nashville Coach Barry Trotz.

Even though Bouillon traveled back to Nashville, the team will remain on the road for three more games. The rugged defender only registered two assists while playing in the top four with power play duties. Expect Roman Josi to remain in the lineup for the time being.

#Preds Mike Fisher and Francis Bouillon said they are ready to play tonight against Sharks at Bridgestone.

Bouillon would serve as the team's number five defenseman when he returns. Prior to his concussion, he scored a goal and 10 points through 44 games. Expect him to help stabilizing the back end.

Also, Francis Bouillon is here and skating. Trotz said Bouillon would not play on this trip, and is more here for conditioning purposes.

In terms of other injured players, Trotz said that defenseman Francis Bouillon (concussion) would make next week’s trip to Western Canada, though he didn’t expect Bouillon to play.

Probably means Bouillon still symptom free after yesterday's skate.

Sounds like Bouillon is close to recovering and could contribute to the team's bottom pairing. Last season, he scored a goal and 10 points with the Preds before succumbing to the C word. Don't expect too much production from the 5'8" defender.

Defenseman Francis Bouillon and forward Mike Fisher were taking part in drills with the rest of the squad for the first time since training camp opened in mid-September. Both had been skating on their own all camp. Bouillon has been out since suffering a concussion Jan. 16 at Chicago.

Both players skating with the team indicates they could be nearing a return. Last season, he scored a goal and 10 points with the Preds before succumbing to the C word. Don't expect too much production from the 5'8" defender.

Trotz also said defenseman Francis Bouillon (concussion) has continued to ramp up his skating workouts with no setbacks

Bouillon has still not taken practice with any of his teammates but it is certainly a step in the right direction. Last season, he scored a goal and 10 points with the Preds before succumbing to the C word. Don't expect too much from the 5'8" defender.

“Frankie Bouillon is making good progress,” Trotz said. “Every day he’s ramping up his fitness level. At the same time, he’s way, way behind everybody because he hasn’t done a whole lot for a long time.”

Bouillon is expected to begin the season on IR with numerous youngsters fighting for his roster spot. If he can come back this season, he would add a great deal of depth to the Preds' blue line.

Just got off the phone with Predators General Manager David Poile, and received some tough news for Nashville. Defenseman Francis Bouillon (concussion) “will probably not be ready for camp,” Poile said.

It looks like Roman Josi, Jack Hillen and Teemu Laakso will compete for the final two spots on the Preds' starting blue line.
