Sergei Kostitsyn News

#Predators coach Barry Trotz confirms Kostitsyn will be a healthy scratch vs #CBJ tonight. Says its about accountability.

Kostitsyn turned the puck over in the Predators last game and instead of hustling back on defense he opted to make a line-change and allow the Oilers to go in on a 2-on-1 which ultimately led to a goal. Coach Trotz obviously was not impressed by this, making Kostitsyn a healthy scratch tonight. Taylor Beck will make his NHL debut tonight in the place of Kostitsyn.

A quick update from the morning skate. Kevin Klein (ankle) and Sergei Kostitsyn (lower body muscle) are on the ice. Both didn’t play in Nashville’s Saturday game against San Jose.

Both players will be a game-time decision tonight so check back for a further update. Considering most rosters will be frozen by 7PM EST, it may be a better option to bench both skaters.

Trotz then put Sergei Kostitsyn on Smith’s spot. Colin Wilson is the third player on Legwand’s line.

Sounds like coach Barry Trotz is loading up his top scoring line due to the various injuries. Through his first three games the talented Bellarussian holds three assists with a minus-1 rating. Look for him to approach his totals of last season of 23 goals and 57 points.

Forward Sergei Kostitsyn did not practice Wednesday, though I did see him walking around the Predators’ training facility at Centennial Sportsplex. Coach Barry Trotz said Kostitsyn had a “maintenance day” for an “upper-body tweak” and didn’t sound worried that the forward would miss any time.

Fresh off a 23-goal, 50-point campaign, Kostitsyn is a go-to scorer on the Preds. Expect him to at least hit those totals in his second full season under coach Barry Trotz.

Trotz is thrilled with what he has seen out of Kostitsyn in camp so far. "He looks really good. His fitness level is 100 times better than last year when it wasn’t very good."

Kostitsyn looks to improve on his breakout season of last season where he scored 23 goals and 50 points. He should be able to match that production with the team keeping most of his frequent linemates. Feel free to draft in deeper leagues.
