Johan Hedberg News

Johan Hedberg, who starts vs. Rangers.

Hedberg played well last week posting a 1.64 GAA and .928 SV% but his record was still only 1-1-1. This will likely be Hedberg's last start as the Devils #1 goalie. Brodeur will probably dress as the backup tomorrow and might start Thursday.

Hedberg will start his 11th consecutive game when the Devils visit Wells Fargo Center Friday night to wrap up their home-and-home series with the Philadelphia Flyers.

Hedberg stopped 23 of 25 shots that he faced in a 5-2 win over the Flyers on Wednesday. He will be back between the pipes tonight against the Flyers looking for a repeat performance from Wednesday. With the limited amount of games tonight Hedberg might be the only spot start candidate.

Johan Hedberg will make 10th straight start.

Hedberg had the opportunity to be a fantasy gem when Martin Brodeur went down with a back injury. However since Brodeur has been sidelined, he has only won two of his nine consecutive starts. He is 4-7-2 with a 2.97 GAA and .879 SV% on the season and has a decently tough matchup vs. the Flyers.

Hedberg will start for the Devils.

Hedberg continues to struggle in the absence of Martin Brodeur, however he is the Devils only other option and will continue to see starts. He gets the nod tonight vs. Winnipeg who he lost 4-2 and 3-1 to in late February. Hedberg can't be relied on for fantasy starts given his recent performances.

Dan Ellis will start in goal for Carolina tonight against Johan Hedberg

Hedberg finally got back into the win column after losing seven straight outings. He will continue to start in the absence of Martin Brodeur. Hedberg has a tough matchup against a good offensive Hurricanes team.

Hedberg will start again Thursday night against Buffalo.

Hedberg has now lost all six starts he's made since Martin Broduer got hurt while posting a 3.79 GAA and .838 SV%. He was pulled halfway through the second period last night against Tampa Bay after allowing three goals on 11 shots. He will start again tomorrow against the Buffalo Sabres who sit 13th in the Eastern Conference.

Pete DeBoer said Johan Hedberg will start in net tonight vs. Tampa Bay.

This is shocking after Hedberg has lost his last six appearances and let in some soft goals last night. However Devils coach Peter DeBoer says "Hedberg has unfairly taken the blame for recent losses". The 39 year-old netminder will be in tough again tonight against Steven Stamkos and the Lightning.

Hedberg will continue to start while Brodeur is injured.

Hedberg has lost his last four starts while posting a 4.06 GAA and .849 SV%. He hasn't played well since Brodeur got hurt which has hurt the Devils. He has a solid matchup vs. the Sabres who are 14th in the Eastern Conference, but he will need to outplay Ryan Miller if he wants to record the win.

Hedberg will start tonight with Brodeur on IR.

Hedberg has lost his last three starts and has not played well. In those three starts he's given up 14 goals resulting in a 4.75 GAA and .837 SV%. The Devils are a good team with Brodeur between the pipes but starting Hedberg in fantasy is risky.

Hedberg will start Saturday for the Devils.

Hedberg has been excellent as Martin Brodeur's backup this season. He is 2-0-1 with an outstanding 0.65 GAA and .973 SV% with 1 shutout. He has a good match-up as well as the Devils take on the Islanders on Saturday. Hedberg is a good spot start.

Hedberg will start the second game of the back-to-back.

Hedberg gave up 1 goal on 29 shots in his first start of the season and took the loss in a shootout. Brodeur will start Saturday so Hedberg gets the call on Sunday. Hedberg gets the easier of the 2 match-ups as he will take on the Islanders but he still isn't fantasy relevant as a backup. He might make for a good spot-start though.

Johan Hedberg will start in goal vs. Bruins tomorrow night in Boston.

Broduer is 3-0-1 and having a great start to the year. This will be Hedberg's first start of the year. Unless something happens to Brodeur or he starts to play poorly, it appears as if Hedberg isn't going to be fantasy relevant.
