Norris (shoulder) had successful surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season.

Norris missed the majority of the previous two seasons due to ongoing shoulder issues and will miss the remainder of the 2023-24 season after undergoing shoulder surgery again. The 24-year-old Norris ends the season with 30 points (16G / 14A) in 50 games.

Norris (upper body) was placed on Long-Term Injured Reserve on Friday.

Norris collided with the net in the second period and exited Tuesday's contest with an upper-body injury after playing only 6:03 time-on-ice. Norris, who missed most of the previous two seasons with a shoulder injury, received imagining and has been ruled out for the foreseeable future. Zack MacEwen was recalled from Belleville (AHL) in a corresponding move.

Norris collided with the net in the second period and exited Tuesday's contest with an upper-body injury after playing only 6:03 time-on-ice. Norris, who missed most of the previous two seasons with a shoulder injury, will receive imaging to determine the severity of this most recent ailment.

Norris (upper body) will be out Saturday vs. San Jose and is considered day-to-day.

Norris did not play on Thursday due to an upper-body injury and has been ruled out of Saturday's contest against the San Jose Sharks as he is day-to-day. The 24-year-old Norris is amid a seven-game pointless skid but was having a decent season before then with 20 points (8G / 12A) in his first 26 games.

Norris (upper body) is out Thursday vs. Buffalo and is being re-evaluated in Ottawa.

Norris finished Tuesday's 6-3 loss to the Calgary Flames but will be unavailable for Thursday's tilt against the Buffalo Sabres as he is being evaluated for an upper-body injury. The 24-year-old Norris is amid a seven-game pointless skid but was having a decent season before then with 20 points (8G / 12A) in his first 26 games.

Josh Norris
Josh Norris (shoulder) will make his season debut Wednesday vs. Washington.

An early-season setback in his return from an ongoing shoulder injury created some pessimism in Norris' likelihood to return to the lineup but after only three missed games, he will make his season debut Wednesday against the Washington Capitals. Norris only played eight games last season, recording three points (1G / 2A), but has 93 points (54G / 39A) in his 133-game career. He is projected to line up at even strength with Dominik Kubalik and Drake Batherson and re-assume his position on the top powerplay unit.

Josh Norris (shoulder) is not expected to play in the Senators' season opener vs. Carolina.

Norris' status isn't any more clear after suffering a setback in relation to his ongoing shoulder injury. He is not expected to play in the Senators' season opener, but outside of that his timeline remains completely up in the air. After only being able to play in eight games last season, Norris was hopeful to start the season in his familiar role as the second-line center on a much-improved Ottawa team. He has 93 points (54G / 39A) in 133 career games with the Senators.

Josh Norris
Norris (shoulder) will miss Saturday's preseason finale and it's unclear when he'll be ready to play.

After being limited to only eight games last season because of his shoulder, Norris' availability for the upcoming season remains up in the air after suffering a setback last week. Any absence for Norris poses major concerns for Ottawa as it leaves a huge void in their second-line center position. Expect Ridley Greig, who recorded nine points (2G / 7A) as a rookie with the Senators last season, to take on a bigger role for the duration of Norris' injury.

Josh Norris
Norris (shoulder) suffered a "setback" and is questionable for the start of the regular season.

“Little bit of — I don’t know if it was a setback — but we’re hopeful he plays on Saturday,” head coach D.J. Smith said when asked about Norris’ surprising absence from the practice on Wednesday. Norris will not play Thursday and is questionable for Saturday's pre-season finale. This leaves his status for the regular season opener in question, a huge issue for the Senators, who haven't re-signed RFA Shane Pinto yet. This could leave them without two of their top-3 centres to start the year.

Josh Norris
Norris (shoulder) expects to be available for opening night.

Norris suffered a shoulder injury last October and attempted to return to the lineup in January, but that only last three games before re-injuring his shoulder. Norris underwent surgery in late January and says he "feels good" and has been on the ice "a ton" and "training normally" this summer. Norris also said he should be ready to play in the preseason, and his goal is to be ready for opening night. Norris has missed 90 games over the last two seasons but recorded 37 goals and 21 assists (58 points) across 74 games, making him a strong mid-to-late round fantasy selection heading into 2023-24.

Josh Norris
Norris will undergo season-ending shoulder surgery.

Norris suffered a shoulder injury on October 22nd and missed three months before returning to the lineup on January 18th. Norris played three games, scoring one goal on seven shots but will undergo shoulder surgery in the near future and will not play again this season. Ridly Greig was recalled from Belleville (AHL) to take Norris' spot on the roster and fill the void at centre.

Josh Norris
Norris (shoulder) will return to the Senators lineup on Wednesday.

Norris has been sidelined since October 22nd but will be back on the second line with Alex DeBrincat and Claude Giroux on Wednesday. Giroux is expected to take the face-offs, but Norris provides a massive offensive boost to the Senators, who averaged 4.2 goals per game in the five games Norris played earlier in the season.

Josh Norris
Norris (shoulder) will be out "long-term."

The Senators do not have a timeline for Norris' return but it's going to be long-term and they're not certain that he'll play again this season. Norris could require surgery but that decision won't be made for a few days. Derick Brassard filled in for Norris on Monday, but Shane Pinto could end up being the long-term solution with Alex DeBrincat and Claude Giroux.

Josh Norris
Norris is expected to miss "at least a couple of weeks" with a shoulder injury.

Norris left Saturday's game vs. the Coyotes with a shoulder injury and is expected to be sidelined for at least a few weeks. The Senators are still waiting on his MRI results, so they don't have a definitive timeline, but he's expected to be out for multiple weeks at the very least.

Josh Norris
Norris (shoulder) is not expected to play on Monday.

Norris left Saturday's game with a shoulder injury and did not return. The Senators have yet to provide an update on Norris' status because they need to wait for the swelling to subside before further evaluation. Because of that, it's highly unlikely that Norris will be available for Monday's game vs. the Stars. Expect Shane Pinto to play an expanded role in Norris' absence, and Derick Brassard could make his season debut in the bottom-6.

Josh Norris
The Senators have re-signed Josh Norris to an eight-year, $63.6 million contract.

Norris was an RFA and signed an eight-year deal that carries a $7.95M AAV cap-hit and a limited no-trade clause in the final four years. Norris is coming off of a breakout campaign, leading the Senators in goals (35) and third in points (55) in just 66 games. With the additions of Alex DeBrincat and Claude Giroux this offseason, Norris will have no shortage of talented wingers to play with next season.

Josh Norris
Norris (shoulder) will return to the Senators lineup on Thursday.

Norris has been out since January 27th but declared himself good-to-go for Thursday's game. Norris was back on the Senators' top line with Brady Tkachuk and Zach Sanford in Wednesday's morning skate. He had 18 goals and eight assists (26 points) in 36 games before injuring his shoulder.
