The Maple Leafs recalled Kasimir Kaskisuo from Toronto (AHL).

With Frederik Andersen getting hurt last night, Kaskisuo re-joins the Maple Leafs where he and Michael Hutchinson will form their goaltending tandem for the time being. The 26-year-old Finnish netminder has gone 12-7-2 with a 2.67 GAA and .912 SV% in the AHL this season but was shelled for six goals on 38 shots in his NHL debut earlier in the year.

Kaskisuo struggled behind a poor Maple Leafs team in his NHL debut, giving up six goals on 38 shots in a loss to the Penguins. With Michael Hutchinson playing well in his three starts with the Marlies, Toronto will give him another chance to be Frederik Andersen's backup.

With Michael Hutchinson being waived on Monday, Kaskisuo comes up to serve as Frederik Andersen's backup moving forward. Kaskisuo is a 23-year-old, who has been with the Marlies since the end of the 2016 season. He has been fantastic to start 2019-20, going 6-1-1 with a 2.13 GAA and .928 SV% in eight games. He will likely make his NHL debut in Pittsburgh on Saturday night.
