Koekkoek was added to LTIR with a broken collarbone.

Koekkoek suffered a broken collarbone on the first shift of Saturday's win over the Flames. Koekkoek was quietly having a very solid season on the third pairing in Edmonton, but it looks like his regular season is over. Luckily for the Oilers, it appears as if Ethan Bear may return the lineup to replace Koekkoek on Tuesday.

The Oilers signed Slater Koekkoek to a one-year deal worth $850K.

Koekkoek played well in his first full season with the Blackhawks, particularly after he was paired up with Olli Maatta. The duo put up some terrific underlying numbers and Koekkoek set a new career-high with 10 points (1G / 9A) in just 42 games. In Edmonton, he'll provide some depth on the blueline and will likely serve as a reserve most of the time. However, he should be the first man in whenever there is an injury.

Koekkoek started the year in Tampa Bay before being traded to Chicago on January 11th and picking up one goal and four assists (five points) in 22 games with the Blackhawks. The 25-year-old now has 19 points (6G / 13A) in 107 career NHL games and figures to be a depth defenseman with the Blackhawks next year.
