are you talking about a trade? as I wouldn’t have though Goligoski would be on the wire…
I’d definately trade for Goligoski, especially if you’re in a keeper league. I have him and he’s been pretty great value. he’s plus-10 and helped me lead for most the year in that category. Pitkanen is minus-13 and even if the Canes do continue to play well, you’d still think that Goligoski will continue to do better in that area.
Also Goligoski plays alongside Sergei Gonchar for most the two minutes on the PP receiving passes from Crosby and Malkin and obviously likes to shoot with 6 goals, Pitkanen has 1. Pitkanen is playing ok right now but how long will that last?
and Pittsburgh doesn’t have 1st, 2nd and third units. They all get good time, Goligoski especially. In his first game back on Thursday he got over 20 minutes so it shows how highly Bylsma thinks of him.
In short I would say no. I drafted Letang thinking he would be an offensive leader this season but it hasn’t turned out that way. He won’t get PP time and looks now to be permanently with Brooks Orpik for the Pens shutdown pairing.
I don’t know how Quincey will produce if he is no longer on the PP, he has 10 of his 24pts from it. I think he will be OK. Preds are on a tough trip and Suter is struggling. Though even if he does get it going it’s still a decline from last year’s totals.
But yes I would say Letang isn’t great value, and not over the kind of players you mentioned for the reasons I said before that Letang has really become more defensive minded.
I would think Ponikarovsky would start out with Malkin. A second big body there would really help. Though I don’t think Bylsma has said either way whether he will be on the top or second line- usually the best lines from practice are used for the game, but Poni apparently isn’t even with the team yet because of visa problems! He is hoping it’s sorted out tomorrow so he can fly to PIT and skate with the team the same day before an early game against Dallas on Saturday.

What are your thoughts on Letang? Is he better value then say a Ryan Suter in Nashville or Kyle Quincey who’s getting his PP time taken by Cuminskey??

What did the line up look like yesterday with Malkin and Gonchar back? I’m just curious to see where Guerin lined up.

Just updated the lines from yesterday’s game. Guerin was alongside Malkin on the second line.

FYI, Letang and Orpik were and have been the number one defensive pairing for the Pens.
