Hours after a report suggested Montreal Canadiens D Shea Weber’s
future may be in question, the club has announced he will be out four-to-six weeks.
Weber, 34, was placed on the injured reserve by the Canadiens last Thursday after head coach Claude Julien said Weber was injured in a Feb. 4 game. Julien noted Weber had “swelling in the affected area,” but didn’t delve into what area that was.
The Habs say Weber underwent a re-evaluation of his left ankle by orthopedic specialist Dr. Robert Anderson today in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It was done after the team said the swelling in his ankle went down, and Weber was diagnosed with a sprained ankle.
The club expects a full recovery for Weber.
