Despite practicing for the second consecutive game, Semin is a game-time decision according to Katie Carrera of The Washington Post, via Twitter. If he doesn’t play, the Caps could dress seven defensemen. However, yesterday, Semin told Tarik El-Bashir he would indeed play. So expect him in, or at least expect a further update.

UPDATE 12/7/11: This morning, Stephen Whyno of The Washington Times reported Washington Capitals left wing Alexander Semin could be a healthy scratch. Similar to his benching at the hands of former bench boss Bruce Boudreau, we expected Semin to be a game-time decision. However, Whyno would later disclose, via Twitter, that Semin is indeed sidelined with a shoulder injury and listed as day-t0-day.

Earlier this week head coach Dale Hunter also found an injury in veteran Roman Hamrlik which makes you wonder if both players were playing at less than 100 percent. Semin did not take part in line rushes this morning or take any shots on net so this injury may hold him out for a few games. According to Katie Carrera of The Washington Post, Semin could have been injured by Jordan Staal in Thursday night’s 2-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Expect another update on the enigmatic winger’s status by Monday at the latest. To see the full lines, click here.
