Blues’ David Backes signs five-year extension

St. Louis Blues first line center/wing David Backes has signed a five year extension with the team worth 22.5 million.  His cap hit will be an even 4.5 million as the team locks in a vital part of their core.

Hopefully with his extension signed all of the baseless trade rumors involving him can end.

Through his first 14 games, the American power forward has two goals and four assists with 32 PIM.  Despite the team showing increased confidence in him he has failed to match his 31 goals in 2008-2009.
