Brad Marchand low bridges and licks Ryan Callahan in Game 4

Here we go again.

Brad Marchand has stirred up plenty of controversy during the 2018 Stanley Cup Playoffs, highlighted by an incident with Maple Leafs’ forward Leo Komarov in the Bruins’ opening game of the postseason.

In Game 1 of the first-round series, Marchand could be seen clearly licking Komarov on the neck while play was ongoing:

When asked about it after that game, Marchand cracked a joke “He keeps trying to get close to me. I don’t know if he has a thing for me or what, but he’s cute.”

According to Hockey Night in Canada’s Elliotte Friedman and his 31 Thoughts” column, the league reached out to the Bruins after the incident:

“After Game 1 of the Toronto/Boston series, the Bruins got a, ‘We’d prefer if you could tell Brad Marchand to stop licking people’ phone call from the NHL.”

According to Marchand, however, that’s not quite what happened:

Whether the NHL reached out to the Bruins and Marchand, that didn’t stop the pesky forward from resuming his antics in Game 4 against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Friday evening.

Marchand went low on veteran forward Ryan Callahan before appearing to lick him in the face:

Marchand’s latest antics stirred up plenty of discussion on social media, with many hockey fans claiming sexual harassment and asking for a suspension. It’s very likely we haven’t heard the end of this story.

The Bruins lost Game 4 in overtime and now trail the Lightning 3-1 in their best-of-seven second-round series.
