If you’re looking over the NHL betting board and want an unbiased second opinion, then scroll on down to the Cheat Sheet. A very busy computer crunched a bunch of numbers from this season and the last to produce an analytical summary of the day’s available bets. Do the numbers match with your opinions, or do they throw your predictions for a loop?

Thursday’s Cheat Sheet: (goalies and lines updated at 2PM ET)

An opinion or two:

– Looks like Tim Thomas will be getting a back-to-back start for the Bruins tonight. I guess I’ll save my “hanging Tuukka Rask out to dry” argument for another day. Still see a lot of value with Tampa at +140 though, but the line has also come down to +130 now, so that might not be the kind of bet that you want to be making too often (a bet where you lose line value due to movement).

– After this “morning’s” updates, Montreal has actually knocked Florida off the top plays list, due to a pretty big overnight line move. I give New Jersey a lot of credit for finally getting their $#!^ together and playing good defense at home, and so I guess I have to acknowledge the fact that when they opened up at -120 yesterday the price was way short (the bet was rated as half-circle/”borderline”).  All right, so Montreal +120 to bounce back today from yesterday’s debacle? I’ll definitely say that they’re a pretty good bounce back team, and note the fact that they’ve only suffered consecutive losses once this season. I think they’re worth a look.

– This could be another opportunity for Toronto to get their offense going. The Leafs didn’t do too bad against the Lightning last time out, but they sat back way too much after taking the lead. I like the Over 5.5 in this game.

– I think that Atlanta has to come back down to Earth eventually, and they’re finally running into a team that is just as hot as they are. Who would have thought that these two teams would find themselves riding hot goalies to season-long winning streaks?
