Daily Fantasy Hockey GPP Picks 01-12-18

Connor McDavid

This shouldn’t shock you but Connor McDavid is the top center play of the night and it most certainly won’t be a secret. He gets a road matchup against the Arizona Coyotes which is a definite plus matchup for the Oilers offense. Being united with Leon Draisaitl has certainly helped but I’m pretty sure McDavid could play with almost anyone on his wings and still hit the score sheet. He is still averaging more than a point per game with 48 points in 44 games and 4.5 Fantasy points per game on DraftKings which is obviously a number you will want him to hit tonight. McDavid will certainly be a very popular play tonight, however, in GPPs if you stack the full line, even if you get him at a higher percentage the full line may be a bit lower as a whole.

Patrick Kane

In a home matchup with the Winnipeg Jets I think this this a sneaky good(is that possible?) for Kane, especially on the power play. He is two games removed from a five point effort and it appears the up tick in production is going to be here to stay. He is very expensive tonight and I would imagine a lot of people will be on the Winnipeg side of this game with Jeff Glass confirmed for the Hawks so it might be possible to get Kane in a plus special teams matchup a bit lower owned than expected. If you are going to use Kane tonight in GPPs it would be smart to pair him with at least Nick Schmaltz.

Jonathan Huberdeau

In Huberdeau’s last four games he has been on quite the hot streak with three goals, four assists, and 11 shots on goal. He will look to extend his point streak to five straight tonight in a home matchup against the Calgary Flames. The Flames will be starting back up net minder David Rittich who does have decent numbers, albeit in a five game sample this year so this matchup will favor the Panthers. The Huberdeau – Barkov – Dadonov line is one of the better lines in the NHL and will more than likely will be popular tonight, however without salary being a major issue tonight there are definite ways to differentiate your line up.

John Carlson

Carlson is the most expensive defensemen tonight on DraftKings at $6600, which may be a steep price but the matchup can not be ignored. The Capitals are facing the Hurricanes tonight who are on the back end of a back to back which means it will probably be Cam Ward in net. I know he has been decent recently but he also has some clunkers. If you know anything about me Cam Ward is one of my favorite goalies to target against despite not liking to stack against the Canes. Carlson not only sees over 25 minutes a night on the Capitals top pair he is also on the top power play unit and if you are going to use him tonight you could pair him with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom.
