Daily Fantasy Stacking: 01-15-18

Wishing a very happy Dr. King Day to all of our American readers. The holiday sets up a four-game slate starting at 1 PM ET.

High-Priced

Gabriel Landeskog ($6,300)-Nathan Mackinnon ($7,300)-Mikko Rantanen ($6,100)

At first glance of today’s slate, stacking the Bruins top line against Kari Lehtonen and the Stars seems like a no-brainer. Despite their absurd 17 goals for and only one goal against at 5v5 this year, much of their firepower is likely to be mitigated by the Stars top line of Jamie BennTyler SeguinAlexander Radulov, who have been just as good, if not better, than Boston 1 at limiting high danger scoring chances against this year. The two powerhouse lines will likely go head-to-head for most of this afternoon’s matchup, and because of that I’m opting to recommend the Avs’ top line of Landeskog-Mackinnon-Rantanen as my high-priced stack of the day. I expect Jared Bednar to use the last change to his advantage and avoid the Ducks’ shutdown line as much as possible this afternoon, which should free up some space for this insanely talented trio. If you’re looking to make it a full stack, Samuel Girard ($3,200) is currently manning the point on the Avs’ top powerplay unit. He makes for a strong play if you want to add some value to an expensive line-stack.

Medium-Priced

Anthony Beauvillier ($3,600)-Mathew Barzal ($5,800)-Jordan Eberle ($5,400)

You can’t say enough good things about Barzal right now, and the days of him being priced at sub $6,000 are surely coming to an end soon. While the injuries to Andrew Ladd and Josh Bailey are unfortunate for the Islanders, it adds some serious value to their second line. Beauvillier has impressed in the two games since replacing Ladd on the second line, registering three goals, an assist, and four shots. Since the injury to Bailey, Eberle has moved up to the Isles’ top powerplay unit, meaning two thirds of this relatively cheap stack will get plenty of powerplay time alongside John Tavares against one of the worst penalty-killing teams in the league. Beauvillier-Barzal-Eberle combined for a ridiculous 12 points against the Rangers on Saturday night which will likely drive their ownership up today, but at this price the value is just too good to ignore. It’s even possible to fit them in a lineup with the Avs’ stack mentioned above if you’re willing to play a punt or two on defense. If you’re looking for a full stack, Nick Leddy ($5,700) is the obvious play.

Value Stack

Danton Heinen ($4,800)-Riley Nash ($3,600)-David Backes ($4,900)

With the Bergeron line expected to matchup against Dallas 1, expect this value line to annihilate the depth of the Stars this afternoon. Simply put, the Stars have no where near the forward depth necessary to matchup against the Bruins. The Heinen-Nash-Backes line has been rolling for almost a month now, and they’ve succeeded in much more difficult matchups than this one. They boast a 57.1% CF on the ice together this season, and you should expect much of the same today. If you want to make it a full stack, both Charlie McAvoy ($4,800) and Torey Krug ($5,400) make for fine plays.
