Daily Fantasy Stacking: 01-19-18

We have a short 3-game slate tonight before a massive 13-game (4 Early, 9 Late) slate tomorrow for Hockey Day in Canada. Below I’ve listed a few GPP Line Stack options—one elite and two value.

ELITE

J. Marchessault ($7,400) – W. Karlsson ($7,000) – R. Smith ($5,600) = [$20,000]

Take a stroll down narrative street with me if you will. This offseason, the Florida Panthers were so desperate to get rid of Reilly Smith’s contract that they offered the Golden Knights Jonathan Marchessault so that they would take Smith off of their books. Here we are seven months later and both Marchessault and Smith are leading Vegas to one of the best records in the NHL.

Along with William Karlsson, the trio carries a 57.80 CorsiFor% and have dominated scoring chances and goals at 5v5. The Golden Knights top line has scored the most 5v5 goals (29) of any trio in the NHL this season and they get a great matchup tonight. They are coming in on the tail-end of a back-to-back, which isn’t ideal, but you have to think Marchessault and Smith will want to stick it to their former team. On top of that, James Reimer has given up at least three goals in four of his last five games, posting an .894 SV% in the process.

Shea Theodore ($4,500) is the best defenseman to use with this trio. He plays with him on PP1 and is the Golden Knights best offensive-defenseman and has a solid floor thanks to his shot volume.

VALUE

B. Connolly ($3,300) – L. Eller ($4,000) – T. Oshie ($5,200) = [$12,500]

Brett Connolly and Lars Eller have been together for most of the season, but since T.J. Oshie was moved to the third line they have been very formidable. The line has a 54.44 CF% and have dominated scoring chances and have scored five even-strength goals in just 42:3 together.

Connolly has been especially strong as of late, scoring four goals with 15 shots on goal in his last five games, making him a strong value play. Eller is in the same boat, having the best offensive season of his career (by far). Eller comes in with five goals and one assist while averaging over two shots per game in his last eight. Oshie is having a down year, but he is the offensive stud of this line and has been chipping in assists with regularity as of late—he also has PP1 exposure and they have the luxury of facing Antti Niemi tonight.

Dmitri Orlov ($4,000) provides some more savings to complete the stack. He plays big minutes, correlates with Connolly/Eller on PP2 and chips in shots and blocks to give him a high-floor.

N. Ritchie ($3,000) – A. Henrique ($4,300) – O. Kase ($4,300) = [$11,600]

I’m going to say right off the top that you can go ahead and leave Nick Ritchie off of this stack and go with an Ondrej Kase–Adam Henrique mini. The trio was just recently assembled, but in a small sample size they have an impressive 60.32 CF%.

Since returning from injury, Kase has been a man possessed. The young winger has three goals, two assists, 10 shots and 6.2 DraftKings Points Per Game in his last three games. Even after Ryan Kesler returned, Henrique is playing big minutes (with PP1 exposure) and shooting frequently. The shot volume makes him a safe value play with a lot of upside, especially playing next to a red-hot Kase.

I would use Cam Fowler ($4,600) with them because he plays the most minutes on this blueline, has the most offensive upside and correlates with Henrique on PP1.
