Ducks at Hurricanes | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Hurricanes -250 Favorites

The Hurricanes will be playing on consecutive nights on Friday when they host a Ducks club in the exact same situation. Carolina is coming off a 3-2 loss to the Columbus Blue Jackets on Thursday as a -135 road favorite, with the UNDER on a 4-0 run, but has won two in a row when playing the second game of a back-to-back following a four-game skid under that scenario. The Hurricanes have also won 12 of 16 times in the second game of a back-to-back dating back to December of 2018.

Anaheim will be playing on back-to-back nights as well and has performed poorly in this situation recently, dropping six in a row going back to October 20. However, the Ducks did upset the Nashville Predators 4-2 on Thursday as +165 road underdogs to snap a four-game losing streak.

Penguins at Red Wings | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Penguins -213 Favorites

The Penguins may be in a potential letdown spot here visiting one of the worst teams in the league in the Red Wings. Pittsburgh is playing back-to-back nights after falling 4-1 to the Boston Bruins on Thursday as a +105 road underdog to break a four-game winning streak, with the UNDER cashing for the first time in five games. The Penguins have also lost four of the last six times they have played the second game of a back-to-back.

Detroit will have the benefit of extra rest in this spot, but the team has dropped two straight by a combined score of 13-3 with the OVER cashing both times, also losing 10 of 13 going back to December 15.

Lightning at Jets | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -139 Favorites

The Lightning continue a six-game stretch away from home when they visit the Jets after losing 3-2 to the Minnesota Wild on Thursday in the opener of their road trip. Tampa Bay had won 11 of 12 going into Minnesota, and the team has also won three of the last four times when playing the second game of a back-to-back situation, with the UNDER on a 3-0 run.

Meanwhile, Winnipeg is coming off a 4-0 win over the Vancouver Canucks as a -135 home favorite on Tuesday, with the UNDER cashing for the second game in a row. The Jets have had a great home-ice advantage in the past, but that victory against the Canucks moved them to just 11-10-2 at Bell MTS Place, where they will be closing out a three-game homestand.
