Penguins at Sabres | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Penguins -170 Favorites

After a promising start to the season, the Sabres are back at the .500 mark and well out of range of a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference following a five-game losing streak. They have also dropped 11 of 13 while the Penguins have gone the other direction in winning five of their last six games and 10 of 15. Pittsburgh is coming off a 5-3 win over the Washington Capitals as -130 home favorites on Tuesday, the team’s lone OVER in six games as well.

Capitals at Flyers | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Capitals -137 Favorites

The Capitals saw their seven-game winning streak end as +110 road underdogs against the Penguins in a 5-3 defeat on Tuesday, and now they will be favored away from home versus the Flyers. Washington has won three in a row and four of five when closing at -110 or higher on the road. Meanwhile, Philadelphia has won four of five, with the lone loss coming to this opponent as a +110 home underdog on March 6.

Canadiens at Islanders | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Islanders -140 Favorites

The Canadiens won 3-1 over the Detroit Red Wings as -350 home favorites on Tuesday to end a two-game skid and earn a victory for just the second time in five games, keeping their playoff hopes alive. The Islanders are also hanging tough as they look to stay in contention for the Metropolitan Division title, winning three of four games to pull within two points of the Capitals for the lead. New York has lost the past three meetings with Montreal, including the last two as home favorites, after winning the previous three games between the teams.

Lightning at Red Wings | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Lightning -390 Favorites

The Lightning routed the Maple Leafs 6-2 on Monday as rare -105 road underdogs, picking up their fourth win in five games and 14th in 16. That was just the fourth time they closed as underdogs this season, and they evened their record in that situation at 2-2. There is no danger of the Red Wings closing as home favorites here, as they have been underdogs in each of their last eight games overall, going 1-7 during that stretch with the one win coming against the New York Rangers at -105 for the smallest line over that period as well.

Blues at Senators | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Blues -185 Favorites

The Blues have already been bet up substantially and would be even bigger favorites if leading scorer Vladimir Tarasenko was not out at least 10 days with an upper-body injury. Without Tarasenko, they lost 3-1 to the Arizona Coyotes as -230 home favorites on Tuesday. As far as the Senators go, they have dropped four games in a row and 11 of 12, although five of the losses have been decided by only one goal, allowing them to cover the puckline.

Bruins at Jets | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Jets -130 Favorites

The Jets are really struggling right now, losing two straight games, three of four and eight of 12 to risk giving up the lead in the Central Division. Fortunately for them, the Nashville Predators have been nearly as bad to stay in second place in the Central. Unfortunately, the Bruins will be angry when they visit after losing two games in a row themselves for the first time since late January. Boston has also seen the OVER cash in five of its last six games.

Stars at Wild | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Wild -130 Favorites

Two teams fighting for a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference meet in Minnesota when the Wild try to leapfrog the Coyotes, who also play on Thursday. Dallas is two points ahead of Arizona for the first Wild Card spot and two behind St. Louis for third place in the Central Division. The Stars have won three of the past four meetings with the UNDER going 4-0.

Ducks at Coyotes | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Coyotes -160 Favorites

The Coyotes simply cannot afford to fall at home to a dismal Ducks team if they want to stay in contention for a Wild Card playoff spot. That said, the Ducks beat the Coyotes 3-1 as +140 road underdogs on March 5 to end a two-game series losing streak after winning the previous two meetings with shutouts away from home and taking four of the prior five overall. Bettors should also expect another low-scoring meeting with the UNDER going 5-1 in the past six.

Panthers at Sharks | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Sharks -234 Favorites

The Sharks are neck-and-neck with the Calgary Flames for the lead in the Pacific Division, owning a one-point lead with 12 games remaining. San Jose has the best home record in the West at 23-5-5 and will probably need to finish strong at the SAP Center with eight games left there to win the division. The Panthers could be a tough opponent in this spot though considering they have won three of the past four meetings, including two as road underdogs.

Predators at Kings | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Predators -180 Favorites

The Kings will try to continue playing the role of spoiler at this point with virtually no shot at the postseason while the Predators are looking to end a two-game skid in the second game of a three-game road trip through California. Nashville is coming off a 3-2 loss to the Anaheim Ducks as a -150 road favorite on Tuesday and must play six of its last 11 away from home, where the team is 17-14-4 this season compared to finishing 25-9-7 on the road a year ago.
