Wild at Capitals | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Capitals -180 Favorites

The Capitals own a three-point lead over the New York Islanders for first place in the Metropolitan Division with eight games remaining despite losing again to the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-4 as +110 home underdogs on Wednesday. In Washington’s last 12 games, the team has lost just three times, with two of those coming against Tampa Bay. Meanwhile, the Wild have lost two games in a row and trail the Colorado Avalanche and Arizona Coyotes by one point each in the race for the second Wild Card spot in the Western Conference. Minnesota has also lost five of six and seven of nine following a five-game winning streak.

Sharks at Ducks | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Sharks -175 Favorites

The Sharks will be looking to break a four-game losing streak and keep their slim hopes alive for the Pacific Division title in the second game of a two-game road trip in Southern California. San Jose has not lost five straight all season and picked a bad time to tie its season-long skid, sitting five points behind the Pacific-leading Calgary Flames and five ahead of the Vegas Golden Knights with eight games left. The Ducks are playing the role of spoilers at this point and would love to extend their opponent’s struggles here. However, Anaheim was blanked 3-0 by the Winnipeg Jets as a +130 home underdog on Wednesday to end a two-game winning streak, with the UNDER cashing for the second time in a row. The Ducks have lost eight of the past nine meetings with the Sharks. San Jose has won six of eight when playing the second game of a back-to-back, with the OVER 7-0 the last seven times in that scenario.
