Maple Leafs at Bruins | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Bruins -145 Favorites

These teams played a thrilling seven-game series in the first round a year ago, with the Bruins using their home-ice advantage to advance to the second round. Boston proceeded to win three of four regular-season meetings this year, including a 3-2 victory as a +110 road underdog in the latest game between the teams on January 12. Toronto was considered one of the preseason favorites to win the Stanley Cup after signing John Tavares in the offseason, but the team really struggled down the stretch and has lost five of six going into the playoffs.

Hurricanes at Capitals | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Capitals -140 Favorites

The Hurricanes would appear to be a dangerous first-round opponent for the defending Stanley Cup champions except for the fact that they have lost four straight games against the Capitals and 11 of the previous 13 meetings dating back to 2016. The problem in the series lately for Carolina has been scoring, totaling four goals combined in the past three meetings with the UNDER cashing each time. Washington has played great hockey since a seven-game skid going into the All-Star break, picking up 21 wins in 32 games en route to earning a fourth consecutive Metropolitan Division title.

Avalanche at Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Flames -190 Favorites

The Flames are the top seed in the Western Conference but first have to take on one of the hottest teams in the league to open the postseason. The Avalanche have won eight of their last 11 games, with two of the losses during that stretch taking place after regulation time. They saw their 10-game point streak end with a 5-2 loss to the Sharks as +145 road underdogs in the regular-season finale on Saturday after clinching the last Wild Card spot with a 3-2 overtime win against the Jets as -120 home favorites two days earlier. Calgary  has lost its last two games as favorites of -150 or higher with the UNDER cashing both times following nine wins in 12 games. The Flames have also won eight of the past nine meetings.
