Opening NHL Odds: Bruins -140 Favorites

The Bruins finally got outstanding production from their top line and solved Blue Jackets goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky on Thursday with an impressive 4-1 victory in Game 4 as +100 road underdogs. The series is now tied 2-2, and Boston again has home-ice advantage just like the first round when the team headed home to TD Garden after trailing the Toronto Maple Leafs by a 2-1 margin and evening that one up.

The Bruins went into Game 4 believing they could get the puck past Bobrovsky multiple times, and they did just that while seeing their own netminder Tuukka Rask make 39 saves for his best performance of the postseason. After seeing a high-scoring first period with three goals, the UNDER still managed to cash for the fourth straight time in the series, hitting exactly five goals for the third time during that stretch.

Avalanche at Sharks | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Sharks -140 Favorites

The Avalanche answered the best performance of the series for the Sharks with a 3-0 win in Game 4 on Thursday, cashing as -135 home favorites to even it up at 2-2 as well. San Jose had earned a 4-2 victory in Game 3 on Tuesday, jumping out to an early 2-0 lead in the first period and holding on behind Logan Couture’s first career hat trick in the playoffs.

This time, it was Colorado goalie Philipp Grubauer who turned in his first career postseason shutout with 32 saves while Nathan MacKinnon extended his points streak to eight games with the first goal of the game in the second period. MacKinnon had a game-high seven shots, and none of the San Jose forwards had more than three. That will need to change in Game 5 if the Sharks are going to regain control of this series.

The good news for them is that captain Joe Pavelski (head) appears closer to returning, and that would provide an emotional boost playing in front of the home fans again for the first time since his scary fall in Game 7 against the Vegas Golden Knights. It is worth noting that the OVER is a perfect 10-0 in San Jose’s last 10 home games dating back to the regular season, according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
