Canadiens vs Jets | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Jets -112 Favorites

The most unlikely scenario for the second round of the North Division playoffs came to fruition on Monday when Montreal completed an epic comeback down 3-1 to Toronto to win their first-round series in Game 7. Now Winnipeg is waiting at home in Game 1 after sweeping Edmonton more than a week ago. The Jets won six of the nine meetings with the Canadiens during the regular season, but this is a much different club that stunned the Maple Leafs thanks to the return of goaltender Carey Price and winger Brendan Gallagher.

Both Price and Gallagher missed time over the last month of the regular season, and each returned versus Toronto and contributed to the upset. In fact, Gallagher scored his first goal of the playoffs as the first in Game 7 en route to a 3-1 win for Montreal as a +180 road underdog. Price was brilliant between the pipes in the last three games as well, stopping 103-of-109 shots (.945 save percentage). This may be a high-scoring series versus Winnipeg though, with the OVER on a 7-2 series run.

Golden Knights vs Avalanche | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Avalanche -233 Favorites

Vegas will try to bounce back from its worst loss ever in the postseason in Game 2 at Colorado in this second-round West Division playoff matchup. The Golden Knights were routed 7-1 in the series opener against the Avalanche as +165 road underdogs on Sunday, with the OVER cashing in their second straight game overall. These teams had split eight regular-season meetings, but Vegas looked overmatched from the start in falling behind 2-0 at the end of the first period and 5-0 at the 14:23 mark of the second on Gabriel Landeskog’s second goal of the game.

The Golden Knights chose to give Robin Lehner his first start of the playoffs and rested Vezina Trophy finalist Marc-Andre Fleury, and that move backfired terribly. Lehner surrendered all seven goals on 37 shots by Colorado, so look for Vegas to give Fleury the nod in this spot. Despite a high-scoring Game 1 that soared OVER the total, the UNDER is still 6-3 in the past nine meetings dating back to the regular season. With that victory, the Avalanche extended their winning streak to an NHL-best 10 games while the Golden Knights have lost three of four.
