Flyers vs Islanders | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Islanders -116 Favorites

The Flyers rebounded once again on Wednesday, edging the Islanders 4-3 in overtime as -115 favorites to even their best-of-seven series at 1-1 heading into Game 3 on Thursday. Philadelphia still has not lost consecutive games since January 7 but blew a 3-0 lead in Game 2 before Philippe Myers buried the game-winner at the 2:41 mark of OT to tie things up.

New York scored two goals in the last nine minutes and saw backup goaltender Thomas Greiss stop 20 of 21 shots in relief of starter Semyon Varlamov, who surrendered the first three goals on just 10 shots. It will be interesting to see if Islanders head coach Barry Trotz goes back to Greiss here in the second game of a back-to-back situation, where they have lost three of four after winning four in a row and 13 of 15. The Flyers have also not been great lately in the second game of a back-to-back, going 2-3 in their last five and 4-8 in their previous 12. Philadelphia goalie Carter Hart made 31 saves in Game 2, but the team could also opt for Brian Elliott here.

Golden Knights vs Canucks | OddsShark Matchup Report

Opening NHL Odds: Golden Knights -188 Favorites

Much like the earlier Game 3 on Thursday, the Golden Knights and Canucks are tied and looking to gain an edge after both of them may have played their best games of the postseason in the first two games of this series. Vegas routed Vancouver 5-0 in Game 1 as a -200 favorite on Sunday while the Canucks bounced back to beat the Golden Knights 5-2 in Game 2 as +180 underdogs on Tuesday to even the series.

The most interesting trends for Vancouver are that the OVER has cashed in the team’s last six wins while the UNDER is 3-0 in the three losses. In other words, it is in the best interests of Vegas to slow the pace down as tempting as it is to play fast. The Golden Knights are clearly the more physical of the two teams, and they should be able to wear the Canucks down if they can continue to beat them up. That said, Vegas goalie Robin Lehner had his worst statistical performance for the team in Game 2, with his teammates leaving him in too many one-on-one situations. Golden Knights head coach Peter DeBoer could give Marc-Andre Fleury a chance to play in this spot, as he is 12-2-2 all-time versus Vancouver.
