Welcome to Daily Faceoff’s daily NHL roundup where we bring you the NHL’s most important news and rumours every day.

COVID in the NHL

COVID-19 outbreaks have hit the Columbus Blue Jackets and Vegas Golden Knights.

According to TSN’s Frank Seravalli, the outbreaks have affected a “significant” number of Blue Jackets and at least four players on the Golden Knights.

Statements from both clubs were released by Seravalli.

COVID hits Team Canada

The aforementioned two NHL clubs aren’t the only hockey teams affected by COVID-19. Two players from the Canadian National World Junior Team camp have tested positive for the virus.

Both players have been placed into quarantine at the team hotel in Red Deer, Alberta.

“As per Hockey Canada’s safety protocols, all players, coaches and staff members took mandatory COVID-19 tests upon arrival at camp and have continued to be tested regularly throughout the past ten days. For precautionary reasons, we will also ensure that all players and team personnel go through an additional test before resuming camp activities.”

Head coach Andre Tourigny said he wanted to drop to roster to 30-34 players following what was going to be Tuesday’s game. First cuts from the group of 46 were expected to come on Tuesday, but no word on if that is being impacted.

Jake DeBrusk signs two-year deal
